Superbowl XLIV

Posted on February 7th, 2010 in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

I wasn’t planning on watching Superbowl XLIV (44), however Kevin and I ended up going to his parents for his sister’s birthday and ended up staying long enough to get through the half-time show.

Honestly… The Who? They couldn’t find someone better to perform? I still remember years ago when Kid Rock performed. ♥ And remember the whole Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake incident? lol

Anyway, I was rooting for the Colts, but unfortunately the Saints wone. I was laughing during the 2nd quarter when the Saints couldn’t score a touch down even though there were a meer couple of feet away from the touch down zone.

And FYI, I was rooting for the Colts because I’m a huge fan of Kendra Wilkinson, and her hubby Hank Baskett plays the Colts (#81). I didn’t get to see him play though! :(

OH! And on a different topic, I now offer Joomla as a service over at In The Designs.

When In Rome

Posted on February 6th, 2010 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Kevin and I shared the day off yesterday, so we decided to work on our house. In our basement, there’s a ledge, and behind the ledge it’s filled with dirt, rocks, etc. It’s like 6 ft high by maybe 4 or 5 ft wide? Kevin and my roommate were the ones removing the dirt and rocks. My job was to vacuum the millions of spiders and spider webs hanging from the ceiling. It was gross but not it looks so much better. I’m not too afraid to stand straight up without getting something in my hair.

I also had to make a trip to Home Depot to buy cement that we’ll be needing in our basement to support the i-beams. I was told to get fifteen 60 lb bags of cement mix. If I would’ve done the calculations in my head before going to the store, I would’ve realized that’s 900 lbs! My poor little convertible can’t handle that, and a customer told me so (stupid jackass). I had to call Kevin to come take half of it. I hate going to Home Depot or Lowes by myself. I know I’m being discriminated because 1) I’m a woman and 2) I’m blonde.

At the end of a long day, Kevin and I both took naps lol. Later on my best friend Breanne came over and the 3 of us went and saw When In Rome. When I was buying Kevin’s and my tickets (yes I paid), I handed over my rewards card and FINALLY received 500 points which gets you 2 free movie tickets, 2 free medium popcorns, and 2 free medium pops. Kevin and I used the 2 pops and a popcorn ticket, and I gave the other popcorn to Breanne. Now I have 2 free tickets though! So happy. :)

About the movie though… It was a good movie. Got a few laughs out of Kevin for being a “chick flick”. I don’t think I’d ever buy it on DVD though. It wasn’t that good lol, but definitely worth seeing once.

Tuesday I’m going to see Dear John with my other friend Janelle, so I’ll blog about that. Breanne already ruined the ending for me though (I told her to).

Why, Oh Why

Why, oh WHY did I answer the phone call from work today? lol I knew I was going to be asked if I could work, and of course, I was.

Unfortunately I need the hours. Tonight earned me about an extra $40. I need money so I can make my home livable!

The first 2 hours were reeeallly slow. Then my friend/co-worker came in. The last 4 hours of my shift were fricken crazy! I was on fryer tonight and I never stopped frying! Everyone wanted 8-pc fried chicken! It’s because of Superbowl I think? I dunno… I’m just glad I don’t have to work Sunday. Supposedly it’s the 2nd business day for the year in the deli. I know New Year Eve’s is another busy one, and I already worked that. I won’t do it again! lol

Form Validation

Posted on January 30th, 2010 in School | No Comments »

It’s sad, but I actually like doing my homework. Even though JavaScript is still really foreign to me, I still want to learn it. This week’s topic is form validation, so for my homework I had to put together a validation script. The best advice given to me was to validate each part individually (name, email, zip code, etc) before moving onto the next. This helps scout out errors.

After I completed my homework, I started putting together a validation script for In The Designs. Right now I’m working on the feedback form, and as soon as I perfect that, I’ll transfer it to the contact form, the order form, etc. I’m so excited for form validation! lol I’ve tried it in the past, but I’ve gotten confused and yada yada yada. This book they’re having us learn through, JavaScript & Ajax, is really easy! They comply to web standards which definitely deserves an A+ from me ;)

Funny Fridays

Fridays… I love ‘em.

Kevin and I shared the day off together. We slept in until about 11, then went down to the city so Kevin could get his hockey skates “baked”. One of my favorite malls was only 2 miles down the road, so we stopped by. You know why it’s one of my favorite malls? 1) They have a pet shop and 2) they have the best orange smoothies!

Afterwards we went by our house to smash some cement in lol. The time is approaching for us to “lift the house”, so in preparation Kevin had to smash out the cement in the basement, dig like a foot and a half down, and then we have to fill it with new cement. We have to do this so that when we put the new i-beams in, the weight of the house won’t buckle in the very thin original cement.

I’m hoping the house gets lifted soon. Then we can install the furnance, do the dry wall, and start living there! Well… There’s WAY more to do, like carpet installation, a new hot water heater, plumbing, duct work, new tub and toilet, etc lol. Damn fixer uppers.

And as always, Fridays are usually our grocery shopping days. At the store there’s a DVD rental machine, Red Box, and it’s only a $1 + tax per day, so we rented Funny People. Didn’t know it was more serious, than funny, but it was still good. Not worth buying, and it’s too long. And surprisingly Adam Sandler didn’t get the girl in the end! My favorite part was Eminem’s appearance. I’m surprised they didn’t advertise him. Gotta love Eminem lol

Also, I’ve come to the conclusion that reading my assigned JavaScript chapters really doesn’t help me. They just introduce a new script and talk through the steps. It’s kind of pointless to read unless you’re doing the steps with them. I’ll stick to reading the lecture notes.
